Traveling through new landscapes is a way to change the maps we use to navigate our lives. The mental limits of what we believe is possible. When we open these internal maps up to the unknown, we begin the exhilarating and painful process of rewriting what we are.
In 2016 I set out to extend my map. To erase past paths and walk blindly into new terrain, seeking enlightenment and change.
These paintings are the response to three months on the road, and the brutal rawness of tearing apart old ideas, forms and narratives and forging a new path.
